Passengers on board a Southwest Airlines flight from Florida say a pickup truck hit their plane on the runway at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

The Boeing 737 left Fort Lauderdale late Sunday night. According to the airline's flight tracker, it landed in Baltimore at 12:46 a.m., shortly before its scheduled arrival. Southwest said the vehicle hit the aircraft as it was pulling into the gate.

"All of a sudden there was a smash, and it startled everyone. It was pretty loud. The people across the aisle said a truck just smashed into the side of the plane," passenger Christopher Pratt said.

Images from the tarmac show a white pickup truck pinned underneath the front of the plane.

There were 172 passengers on the plane, according to Southwest.

No one was injured.

A Southwest representative said they were "glad to hear everyone made it safely to BWI" in a response to a passenger on Twitter.

Neither the airline nor the airport has released any further details.

President Donald Trump urged West Virginia voters to support any Republican candidate for U.S. Senate except Don Blankenship in the state's GOP primary on Tuesday.

"Problem is, Don Blankenship, currently running for Senate, can't win the General Election in your State...No way!" Trump tweeted. "Remember Alabama. Vote Rep. Jenkins or A.G. Morrisey!"

Blankenship is a former coal executive who served prison time for his role in the 2010 Upper Big Branch coal mine explosion that killed 29 of his Massey Energy miners.

A Fox News poll from late April showed Rep. Evan Jenkins leading the pack, with 25 percent support among likely voters, compared to 21 percent for Patrick Morrisey, the state's attorney general, and 16 percent for Blankenship.

But establishment Republicans are concerned by the possibility that Blankenship could be surging heading into Tuesday's primary, according to reports.

The winner will take on Democratic incumbent Sen. Joe Manchin.

Egg Donor, Daughter Have More Than Biology in Common

Amy Throckmorton and Elizabeth Gaba have only known each other a short time, but their story begins 20 years ago.

That’s when Throckmorton was a student studying drama at USC. She answered an ad in the college paper asking for egg donors.

"I never knew if the egg ever became an embryo, if the embryo was ever a successful pregnancy," Throckmorton said.

Throckmorton has three kids of her own now and runs a nonprofit called Luminary Arts that brings musical theatre into schools. She said she never thought much about the egg donation until recently.

As part of the egg donor contract, Throckmorton had agreed not to initiate contact with any children who came from her eggs. She did, however, indicate she’d be open to a meeting if a child ever wanted to meet her.

Then came a Facebook message from a stranger with a photo of Throckmorton from college. The message asked Throckmorton if she knew the person in the photo.

The photo was from Throckmorton’s egg donor file. Gaba used that along with the name of Throckmorton’s college sorority to track her down.

Throckmorton knew the timing sounded right. Gaba then sent a video which convinced Throckmorton she was the biological mother. Gaba is a singer as well.

"She sent me a video of her singing and I thought, oh ya, that’s for sure," Throckmorton said. "She sounds just like me. It’s like singing with myself."

The two met up in person to talk, which led to singing.

"It was magic," Gaba said. "The more time we spend together, the more I realize our personalities are so insanely similar."

And their story gets even crazier. When Throckmorton was in college at USC, she helped start an a capella group called the SoCal VoCals. Now Gaba is a student at USC and sings in that same a capella group 20 years later.

"From the time I was 15, I was so adamant I was going to go to USC and I was gonna be in the SoCal VoCals, and I had no idea why," Gaba said, adding that she started crying when she found out her biological mother had been part of the same group.

Gaba said her parents were always very open about the fact that her biological mother had been an egg donor.

"My mom actually helped me search for a while," Gaba said.

As for what happens next, both said this is is a friendship that seems to be off to a great start.

"Gaba obviously has her own family. I am not replacing that family in any way. I am just an addition to it, one extra person to know and love, I hope," Throckmorton said.

Gaba said, "I just am the type of person that thinks love is not limited to a certain number of people."

Tim Tebow and the Rumble Ponies Play in Hartford This Week

Tim Tebow, the former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner, will be playing baseball in Hartford this week.

The Hartford Yard Goats are set to play Tebow's team, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Monday through Wednesday at Dunkin' Donuts Park.

"One of the great things about minor league baseball is that you never know who you may see play when you come to a Yard Goats game," Yard Goats president Tim Restall said. "Last season, we had several Major League players come through on rehabilitation assignments which was a huge bonus for our fans. We are excited that Tim Tebow will be playing at Dunkin’ Donuts Park with the Rumble Ponies and I’m sure he will love the experience of playing in Hartford."

The Rumble Ponies are the Double-A, Eastern League affiliate of the New York Mets.

"We are proud to be the Mets' Double-A affiliate, and it is an honor to host some of the top talent in the organization," Rumble Ponies president John Hughes told NBC Connecticut. "There is excitement every season, especially this year."

Tebow hit a home run in his first time at the plate this season but then went into a slump where he saw his batting average drop to .133.

But he could be showing a reason to eventually get a promotion to Triple-A ball? Tebow hit his second home run of this season Friday followed by his third on Saturday.  He is currently hitting .241 through 23 games with 12 RBI.  Tebow has struck out 38 times.

Yard Goats team members say it's hard not to pay attention to the buzz around Tebow's visit but they are focused on getting a win.

"There's buzz everywhere he goes and I wish him the best just like I wish every other kid the best in this game, but we're going to try to beat him," Yard Goats manager Warren Schaeffer said.  "That's pretty much all there is to it.  I'm sure there's going to be a ton of fanfare.  It's fun for the guys to get more fun but other than that it's just another day."

Monday night's game is also featuring a prescheduled promotional giveaway.  The first 1,500 fans will get a "Fancy Pants" bobblehead.  Fancy Pants is the goat from Circle K Farms in East Hampton who served as the model for the Yard Goats' logo.

Tebow started in the minors last year playing in Single-A but moved up this season to Double-A. This will be his first visit to Hartford, though the Yard Goats did play against Tebow last season in Binghamton.

Tebow is scheduled to hold a 4:30 p.m. news conference and NBC Connecticut will stream it live on our website.

South Windsor High Students Launch Fundraiser for Girls Golf Team

A South Windsor High School freshman did something not many high school freshmen have the guts to do. She reached out to several upperclassmen she’d never met before to start a golf team for girls.

Meghna Mazumdar found out that her school didn’t have a varsity golf team for girls, so she decided to start her own and the teens raised more than $13,000 to start their own program.

“Being so passionate about golf but also a huge advocate for women’s empowerment and women’s leadership. … When I found out there wasn’t a girls golf team, I was actually really shocked,” Mazumdar said.

The team now has nine players, which is more than many of the teams in the state.

The new head coach, Jim Abbott, said that’s not the only thing that’s unique about his team.

“We’ve been out in the rain, the cold and the wind and they show up every day,” Abbott said. “To have that buy-in from day one has been great.”

Mazumdar and the team need to raise enough money to fund the team for three years before the board of education will take over the program. So far they’ve funded year one, but need to raise an additional $11,000 for each of the next two seasons.

FDA Expands Kratom Recall Over Salmonella Fears

Badger Botanicals is recalling four different dietary supplements that may have been contaminated with salmonella, the Food and Drug Administration said on its website Friday.

The recall affects consumers who purchased Green Suma, Red Suma, Green Hulu 2 and Red Hulu 2 kratom dietary supplements in pouches of 250 grams through the Utah-based company’s website from Jan. 1 through April 12 of this year, the FDA said.

One possible illness has been reported in connection with the recall, according to the FDA. Salmonella symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramping and fever, the agency noted.

The recall comes less than a month after the FDA announced that it was investigating a "multistate outbreak" of Salmonella linked to products that contain kratom — a plant native to Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Papau New Guina, according to the agency's website.

The agency hasn’t approved any uses for kratom, and has gotten "concerning reports about the safety of kratom, including deaths associated with its use," it said last month.

"The FDA advises consumers to avoid kratom in any form,” it said on its website. “In addition to the public health concerns raised by this outbreak, there is strong evidence that kratom affects the same opioid brain receptors as morphine and appears to have properties that expose people who consume kratom to the risks of addiction, abuse and dependence."

Anyone who bought the supplements included in the recall should stop using them. Unused supplements can be returned, the FDA said.

Consumers with questions can call Badger Botanicals at 1-385-325-0875.

New Laws Crack Down on Fake Service Dogs

$

Twenty-one states have in recent months mounted crackdowns on people who falsely claim their pets as service and support animals so they can bring them into restaurants, theaters and other public places, NBC News reported.

But it's not entirely clear how widespread the problem of fake service dogs is.

That's because there is no uniform nationwide certification or registration process for legitimate service animals — which receive up to several years of specialized training — making it easy for people to scam a non-existent system.

And the easy availability online of "service dog" harnesses and vests is all too tempting for animal-owners who want company running errands and going out.

Emotional support animals, with the exceptions of those helping veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, aren't protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

As police searched the car they found a paintball gun loaded with blue paintballs and a small amount of marijuana, police said.

The victim who had been shot in the head positively identified one of the people in the vehicle as the party who shot at him, police said.
