A 29-year-old mother of four was found dead inside a home on Cypress Street in Bristol early Wednesday morning and police have charged her boyfriend with murder.
Mario Rivera, 24, of Beths Avenue in Bristol, has been arrested, charged with murder and is being held on $1.5 million bond.
Police responded to the home at 2:56 a.m. when the Bristol Police Communications Center received a 911 call reporting that a woman was injured at a home on Cypress Street.
Responding officers found the victim, Shenia Walker, in a second-floor apartment. The official cause of death has not been released, but police believe she was stabbed several times while her children were in the home.
"My grandkids said, 'He stabbed my mommy, he stabbed my mommy,'" Walker's mother, Ramona Brooks, said. "I just want to see my daughter for one last time. It's sad, it's sad."
Shenia and Mario had two children together, a 2-year-old and a 1-year old, according to her mother, who said the couple had a volatile relationship.
Shenia called her grandmother for help, but it was too late.
"She called my mother for help and, by the time my mother got up here, it was too late," Brooks said.
Rivera was also charged with four counts of risk of injury to a minor. The children were not injured.
Walker lived on Cypress Street and neighbors said the victim is a mother.
