A gas grill exploded outside a house on Leigh Drive in East Haven on Sunday afternoon, causing damage to the side of the house.
The fire was reported at around 1:34 p.m.,
The explosion started a small fire that spread and damaged the side of the home, East Haven Battalion Chief Eileen Parlapo said.
The deck around the grill was also charred.
There were no injuries.
