A holiday party gone bad in Hartford put two children in the hospital with stab wounds on Christmas night.
Hartford Police responded to 27 Winchester St. around 11 p.m. Tuesday night for a report of a large fight. Upon arrival they discovered that a large crowd of adults at a holiday party had started fighting on the front porch.
According to police, Vincent Motley, 50, began to fight with a woman at the party. The woman's children, ages 9 and 14, stepped in to protect her, police said. Another person grabbed a knife to come to the woman's aid and during the altercation, both children suffered lacerations from the knife.
The children were not the intended targets, police said. Both children were treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Police arrested Motley, and 32-year-old Monique Woodson. Another arrest is pending.
The Hartford Major Crimes Division is handling the investigation.
