West Haven police arrested the man who brandished a hand saw and stole a cash register from a Sam's Food Mart early Sunday morning.
According to police, a store employee at Sam's Food Mart, 667 Campbell Ave., called 911 to report that a white male wearing a mask was acting suspiciously.
While en route to the scene, police learned that the male brandished a hand saw, threatened the store clerk and stole the cash register.
The suspect took off on foot north on Campbell towards George St. Officers pursed a Chevrolet Pickup and attempted to stop the truck but it fled onto I-95 North and was eventually lost after exiting onto Route 1 in New Haven.
After investigating, police have identified Michael Peterson as the suspect. According to Sgt. Tammaro, Peterson,34, was found at a home at 288 Front Ave.
Peterson was charged with multiple felonies including robbery, larceny and engaging pursuit.
