One person is dead and one had to be airlifted by Lifestar to the hospital after a tree fell on a group of people in a wooded area near Day Pond State Park in Colchester.
Colchester Fire and police responded to the area of Blue Hill Road and Comstock Bridge Road for a report that a tree fell on top of a group of people.
Emergency officials located two injured people. One was transported to Hartford Hospital by Lifestar. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.
The second victim was pronounced dead on the scene. DEEP Police have been called since the incident is in an area near a state park.
