A gas leak in Simsbury has closed Route 10/Hopmeadow Street between the 370 and 400 blocks, according to the Simsbury Fire Department.
The leak was caused when a car hit the gas main in front of 384 Hopmeadow Street, said a representative from Connecticut Natural Gas, which is responding to the scene.
The gas has been shut off and CNG expects the road to reopen soon.
Businesses in the area say authorities are telling people to stay inside.
An NBC Connecticut crew is reporting to the scene.
