A Colorado marijuana grower is hoping to move his operation to an old factory in Watertown.
Ethan Ruby, owner of the medical marijuana production plant Theraplant, has proposed plans to move into the former Keeler & Long paint factory in Watertown’s business park.
Theraplant is currently located in Colorado. The company grows and processes traditional buds for smoking but is looking to expand to distribute pills and vaporizers.
The proposed Connecticut plant would produce the drug and distribute it to dispensaries in the state. No actual sales of marijuana would take place in Watertown.
Ruby presented his plans at the city’s Economic Development Commission meeting last week. The state legalized marijuana last year.
