A black bear roaming in a residential area was shot and killed by police in Berlin Sunday evening.
According the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, police received a call from a resident who said a bear was in a yard and showed signs of being aggressive.
A sergeant from the Berlin Police Department responded to the home near the intersection of Lincoln Street and Mooreland Road, at around 7:00 p.m.
A DEEP official said the police sergeant had to shoot the bear because it was a threat in the neighborhood.
