Someone stole thousands of dollars worth of tires and rims from a car that is rare in the state and Hamden police are investigating.
Hamden Police said someone entered the rear parking lot of Partyka Chevrolet, at 200 Skiff Street, placed a jack underneath a 2013 Mazda 3 “Speed” model car and removed all four stock wheels and tires.
Police took the report on Friday and said they have learned that the “Speed” model of the Mazda 3 is unique in that there are minimal models in the State of Connecticut.
According to Mazda’s Web site, the MazdaSpeed3 is a “wicked, speed-craving hot rod” and the price range is around $25,000 to nearly $28,000.
The four stolen tires and rims are worth an estimated $2,500 and fit on a Mazda 3 base model.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Joseph Liguori at (203) 230-4000.
