State Police have arrested several people accused of computer crimes, including possession and distribution of child pornography.
The Computer Crimes Investigation Unit made six arrests during the first week of February alone.
Police arrested the six men, between 26 and 61 years old, after targeting people who raised red flags online, according to police.
Joesph DosSantos, 41, of New Milford, admitted to using a fake profile on the internet to arrange a meeting for sex with a girl perceived to be a minor and of using pictures of a friend to share with young girl,s according to police. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Feb.18.
Brian Hague, 32, of East Lyme, was charged with possession and distribution of child pornography in the first degree after using Internet file sharing networks. Hauge turned himself in and was arrested. He is scheduled to be in superior court on Wednesday Fed.2.
James Scott Bacon, 62, of Ledyard, was charged with possession of child pornography and was held on a court-set $100,000 bond.
Mathew Vicente, 27, of Simsbury and Frank Caciopoli, 52, of West Haven, were charged with possession of child pornography and promoting a minor in an obscene performance.
Steven Anthony Cerasoli, 57, of Manchester, was charged with importation of child pornography and promoting a minor in an obscene performance. As police were executing a search and seizure warrant, Cerasoli admitted to using Internet file sharing networks and searching for pornography, as well as keeping handwritten logs and notes of websites that ch contained child pornographic images, according to police.
Troopers with the computer crimes unit started some of the investigations as early as July 2011 and continued to follow the suspects online activity until their arrests.
They then submitted arrest warrants in each separate case. All are scheduled to appear in superior court.
