Strip Club Proposal Riles Neighbors

Pool Table Magic in Windsor Locks calls itself a place for 'Billiards, Cocktails and Food,' but the pool hall could soon be home to a strip club.

Mark Kulungian, the owner, is requesting permission from the town to convert the pool hall on Route 75 into a place for 'live entertainment, including sexually explicit dance routines."

Neighbors are now working together to stop those plans and have formed a group called Windsor Locks Citizens for a Safe Community.

"We don't want to see Route 75 start up like a Berlin Turnpike," said Father Robert O'Grady, of St. Mary's Church, and a member of the group.

"We don't need this in our town. Windsor Locks is a wonderful little blue collar town. Good family values. People are close together," O'Grady said. "You get more drinking, you possibly get more drugs coming into the area, you get prostitution."

Representatives of hotels on Route 75 also said they're worried about the kind of crowd this new business would bring.

But, Tom Neal, of Windsor, thinks it might give people a different perspective on the town.

"A lot of people might leave here saying they had a more exciting experience," he said.

Kulungian did not return NBC Connecticut's calls for comment.

His plan will go before a public hearing at Windsor Locks Town Hall on February 11.
