An 8-year-old East Haven girl suffered just a bump on her head when a car crashed into her family’s house on Thursday night but the crash left a lasting impact on the house.

Antonia Torello was watching TV in her parents’ bedroom when a car came through the house around 9 p.m., throwing Antonia and her tiny dog, Chewy, across the room.

"It scared the begeebees out of me," Antonia said. “I was watching “Wipeout” and I actually got wiped out."

Antonia said she was flung across the room.

"Like a slingshot flinged me across the room, so I found myself next to my dog, crumpled up in a ball," she said.

Antonia's father, Bobby Torello, said he actually saw the car veering out of control along busy North High Street just seconds before it hit his ranch-style home.

"And I actually watched it crash right in -- and knowing my daughter was in the other room, I lost it completely," he said.

Antonia said she heard a screech get louder and louder.

"Then I heard it really louder and then I heard glass broke," she said.

The Torellos said the impact of the crash took out a stop sign and a street sign.

"It was the freakiest thing I've ever seen," Bobby Torello said.

The crash left broken glass on the front lawn and a gaping hole in the house that is now covered by ply wood.

East Haven police are investigating what caused the driver to lose control.
