A woman and her niece are in critical condition after a car hit them and fled in Bridgeport on Monday evening, according to police.
The 60-year-old woman and her 6-year-old niece were struck by a car in the area of Washington Avenue and Highland Avenue around 8:45 p.m., according to police.
Two other young children made it across the street safely and were not injured.
The victims were taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where they are in critical condition.
Police said the aunt and niece were struck by a light color large SUV that fled north on Washington Avenue toward Catherine Street.
