Fire caused damage to the outside bar at Mezzo Grille, at 106 Court St., in Middletown early Tuesday morning.
The fire started around 3 a.m. and caused damage to the patio and Tiki bar, a popular spot, especially during the summer season.
"The hardest thing was getting to it because it was a closed bar and fences to get through and outside gates, but once we got to it the fire was out relatively quickly," Deputy Fire Chief Robert Kronenberger said.
The restaurant portion of Mezzo Grille is OK, he said.
"Luckily the restaurant is fine, so the restaurant should really lose no down time," Kronenberger said.
No one was inside the restaurant when the fire started, officials said.
The fire marshal will investigate the cause.
The manager of Mezzo Grille said he plans to rebuild the outside area of the restaurant.
